Ange + Andy's Port Douglas Wedding

We love a groom who takes initiative! Unbeknownst to Ange, Andy pre-booked the pair’s Port Douglas ceremony and reception venues when he was planning to propose—leaving things to flow easily from there. A relaxed and festive day (complete with a “cranking” dancefloor) made this Australian wedding, captured by photographer Benedict Sutton, one we couldn’t wait to share…

THE VIBE

“We wanted to host an intimate gathering that was also just one fun party with our nearest and dearest. Delicious food and a cranking dancefloor were priorities along with a relaxed tropical luxe vibe as venue and region itself really dictated the theme.

THE DECOR

“We were lucky to have Deb at The Vintage Hire Co. who took our basic brief and delivered a perfect Bahamas-style dreamland of natural timber and cane, fresh white and lush greens on the day.”

FASHION

“After trying on a small number of gowns in bridal boutiques (none of which were quite ‘it’) I stumbled across an image on Pinterest which just resonated with me. It was elegant and a little bit boho which was what I always wanted.”

WORDS OF WISDOM

“Just enjoy the journey together, make decisions as a team and don’t get caught up in the small details or what you think others will expect.”

MARRIAGE IS…

“Navigating through life’s highs and lows with your best mate who also happens to be your soulmate. It also means an unconditional love that is fun and forever (which also means endless compromise!)."

SHOUTOUT TO…

“Deb Kinsella from The Vintage Hire Co. She worked all kinds of magic with the furniture, florals, lighting, styling & more. The whole experience in the lead-up was so easy and stress-free. A one-stop shop, so ideal for a destination wedding!

Our photographer Benedict Sutton. We only met in person for the first time just 3 weeks before the wedding but it really is just like having a talented mate hang around for chats while wielding a camera. His easy-going nature instantly makes you feel calm and comfortable. He even joined in on the wedding eve festivities (a sunset sail) and mingled with our guests while sneaking a few epic pictures!”
